Company hoping appeal will clean up this Christmas

Cheadle based commercial cleaning specialists, Moorland Contract Group were surprised but thrilled to receive a visit from pantomime favourite, Widow Twankey, aka Paul Deakin, partnership manager at disabled children’s charity, Caudwell Children.

The charity is raising money to buy special sensory gift packs for children with disabilities who cannot play with normal toys. The packs will include items such as fibre optic toys, massagers, and scented bubbles.

Moorland Contract Group are one of several Staffordshire businesses partnering with Caudwell Children to help them achieve their minimum target of 1000 sensory packs for Christmas.

Moorland Contract Group director Suzanne Davy said: “We met Paul through networking earlier in the year. His infectious personality and the fabulous work done by Caudwell Children made it an easy decision to sign up to supporting the charity. It’s been such a tough year for everyone, and we are delighted to be able to play a small part in ensuring children and their families have a special Christmas.”

Paul Deakin added: “The appeal has been made more difficult due to the Coronavirus restrictions. However, this has not stopped businesses getting involved in helping us achieve our target.

“The response to this Christmas appeal from local businesspeople such as Suzanne and Jackie at Moorland Contract Group has been amazing. I don’t need much encouragement to dress up hence Widow Twankey is extremely busy visiting all the businesses taking part.”
