Are you telling tales?

I’ve recently fallen into the trap of assuming everyone knows what I do. My PR work is probably the most visible example of my work, I’ve posted some recent articles and photos here. However, when talking to long-time associates recently, they hadn’t got a clue that I also write content for web and hard copy brochures, manage social media and offer a full marketing and communication strategy service.

I’m sure I’m not alone, as every business probably does something amazing each working day, but the majority fail to let anyone know about it. Telling your story, and using your channels to capacity, is an essential and not a luxury. Its also an investment and not a cost. If you are too busy to do it yourself, then ask someone who does it for a living. There are plenty of us around and we don’t cost the earth. In fact if you weigh up the cost of employing a dedicated marketer against a few hours worth of decent copy and images working for you, the expense is minimal, but the returns can be phenomenal.

To quote Richard Branson: “Publicity is absolutely critical. A good PR story is infinitely more effective than a front page ad”.

It’s certainly done the Virgin brand no harm.
