All aspects of care at Leek hub

Aspects Care Services local centre sits in a prominent position at the top of Market Square in Leek.

Its bright décor and welcoming reception area sum up what the organisation is all about.

“We are part of the community and want people to feel welcome to walk in and ask any questions they might have,” explains Emlyn Pugh, health & safety officer at Aspects.

He added; “The purpose of Aspects Care Services is to promote independent living and social inclusion for individuals with learning disabilities. We strive to fully integrate them into society by supporting them to lead full and independent lives.

“As well as carers calling in, we also get referrals from social services.”

Aspects offers a range of services for its users, including supported living, day opportunities, life skills, community care, volunteering and work experience.

There are also regular themed disco nights, drama performances at the Foxlowe Arts Centre and an annual holiday to Pontins.

Activities available to service users include, pottery, music, sports, nature studies/forest academy. Life skills include, road skills, using public transport and handling money.

Aspects joined Staffordshire Moorlands Chambers of Commerce in 2019. Emlyn explained: “We wanted to network and integrate with the business community as we are essentially a business, we are set up as a community interest company (CIC), which means we use our profits and assets for the public good. By using business solutions to achieve public good, it is believed that CICs have a distinct and valuable role to play in helping create a strong, sustainable and socially inclusive economy.

“The Chamber has some great services including their HR and legal services package which we can utilise. In addition, the networking opportunities are a great way to connect to businesses and individuals, to raise awareness of what we offer and hopefully to build future collaborations. “
